Mr Beast Giveaway is a fraudulent page you may spectate in your web browser. On this page, you see the claims that Mr Beast – a pretty famous YouTube blogger – offers you $1000 after some simple actions. In fact, this pseudo giveaway is a complete fake and a sign of adware presence.

What is Mr Beast Giveaway?

The Mr Beast Giveaway is just another example of the online scam that aims on your personal information. In contrast to other similar pseudo-giveaways (Amazon $1000 gift card giveaway, for example), this one says that you will get your prize just after installing the certain application. Since this fraud mimics some real activity conducted by a Mr Beast – a YouTuber with a pretty large audience.

It is important to say that Mr Beats itself has no relation to this fraud. Crooks who manage to spread this fraud just took his name as a disguise – and it is a pretty effective tactic. People will trust something more if it is imaged as the offer from a well-known person. Just remember the Dogecoin giveaways scam with the claims that Elon Musk provides this offer. Of course, Mr Beast giveaway is not so massive, and brings less to no damage to your wallet, but the efficiency is still there.

After installing the “sponsors’” applications, you need to leave the email address which is linked to your PayPal wallet. Fraudsters say that it is needed to send you a “prize” – the aforementioned $1000. As you can already guess, you will not receive any prize, leaving with some untrustworthy apps installed on your computer and the email of your PayPal wallet compromised.

How dangerous is this scam?

Main danger is concentrated away from the “Mr Beast Giveaway” page you see. Usually, the reason for the appearance of this page is adware presence. Sometimes, it appears after the redirection from another site – for example, after clicking a dubious advertisement or a link. However, if you haven’t clicked on any links or banners, and seen this fraudulent page – it is definitely generated by adware.

Adware is a virus which shows you unwanted banners wherever you are. You may be concentrating on editing a photo in Lightroom, or playing the game, but it does not matter for viruses. It will open your browser with this page in it. Such a behaviour may decrease your PC performance significantly, especially if you have a relatively weak system. But the main danger is deeper – adware may show you the banners with a malicious link inside. It is always a risk to click the promotion generated by a virus, since only fraudsters know what will happen after this click. There are plenty of examples when people have gotten an additional virus in such a way.

Besides the adware risks, there is also a risk related to the application you install “to get a prize”, as well as with sharing your PayPal email address. Unknown app, which is installed from a dubious website, definitely carries some sort of danger. It may be a potentially unwanted program, or even a full-size virus. Coin mining trojans, for example, are often spread through such a scheme.

Addressing the email, which is linked to your PayPal wallet is also a danger – fraudsters can try to brute force your password, or to get your credentials through various phishing ways. They already do it with scary email messages stating about debt settlements or some changes in Standard Bank service terms. Check it out to know how to avoid being fooled!

How did I get adware on my computer?

Adware cannot appear out of nowhere. You have definitely clicked something on the Web, or installed a program which contained this virus. This virus can mimic a browser plugin – offering you to change your Chrome appearance, for example. There is nothing bad in these plugins themselves, but be very careful choosing them – there are a lot of chances to get malware instead of the plugin you wish.

The malicious advertisements on the Web may be met wherever. The majority of them are concentrated on websites which have no profitable activity. Maintainers of these sites usually take the advertising contracts from anybody, regardless of its benevolence. Of course, some of these banners may just contain a redirect to a strange online game, for example. But it is better to avoid clicking it at all, than to toss a coin each time you are doing this.

How to remove the “Mr Beast Giveaway” page from my computer?

Removing the adware is relatively easy, since it does not make a lot of changes in your system. However, manual removal is still less effective than the use of antivirus programs. Figuring out which app is adware in fact, and the removal process may take hours. It is better to make use of anti-malware software – to make it easier and faster.

Microsoft Defender, which looks like a perfect tool, may struggle to remove adware. This type of virus can be modified very easily, so antivirus engines will struggle to detect it. Updating the Defender is not a very fast process – it usually needs rebooting your PC. GridinSoft Anti-Malware does not have such a problem, since it can be updated any moment. Moreover, malware analysts collect and add new variants of adware every hour, so the virus will not hide.
